Welcome to Domaine de Chalain, your haven of peace in the heart of the Jura!
We look forward to welcoming you to our little corner of Jura paradise. Bookings for the 2025 season will open on 18 January 2025 on our website.
Since 30 September 2022, under the impetus of the Jura Departmental Council, owner of the Domaine de Chalain, our site has entered a period of profound change. An important page in the history of the estate has been turned with the closure of the 700-site, 4-star campsite and the move towards a human-scale, environmentally-friendly tourism model. In 2025, the Société Publique Locale ‘Terre et Lacs du Jura’ took over the reins of the Domaine de Chalain, breathing new life into the site.
This transition marks the start of a new era, in which eco-responsibility and the preservation of our natural jewel will be at the heart of every decision.
Today, we welcome you to 33 wooden chalets, real cocoons nestling in an exceptional natural setting. These accommodations have been awarded the ‘hébergement pêche’ (fishing accommodation) label and will soon be awarded the ‘accueil vélo’ (cycling accommodation) label, promising unforgettable stays for lovers of nature and outdoor activities.
At the heart of our approach is the Jura department's commitment to preserving the natural jewel that is Lake Chalain and to developing day use. This approach enables us to maintain the natural water level of Lake Chalain throughout the year, helping to regenerate the lake and protect its unique ecosystem.
To enhance your experience, the water accesses on the former north beach will be upgraded to offer you a new, even more pleasant and safer swimming area. Although Les Lagons water park remains closed to conserve energy and natural resources, the natural beauty of the lake and its beaches will enchant you.
Imagine enjoying the peace and space of this unspoilt setting. Our beaches, one of which is supervised in July and August, invite you to swim and relax. For the more active, our hiking trails will take you on a discovery of the region's hidden treasures. And if you'd like to get together with friends or family, our picnic and play areas are just the thing.
Looking for a thrill? Let yourself be tempted by our water sports activities! You can hire pedalos, canoes and paddles to explore the lake. Those looking for new experiences can try their hand at electric scooters or axe-throwing, while the younger ones can have fun on our bouncy castles. For a bite to eat, our snack bar, bar and ice cream parlour are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. (depending on the results of the calls for tender in 2025)
The summer will be punctuated by a programme of activities focusing on raising awareness of aquatic environments and fishing, orienteering and discovering the rich neolithic heritage of Lake Chalain.
Get ready for an authentic experience, where unspoilt nature and comfort combine harmoniously for your greatest pleasure.
See you on June 7 & 8, 2025 !
